How to get updates accepted?

I have sent updates to a map and they have been in pending for a long time. How does this work? Do I need someone else in the neighbourhood to approve the changes or is it done via.a moderator?

The reason I ask, is that it’s a very rural area where it is very unlikely that there is another HERE map editor. Therefore how can I push through these map updates?
